Duties at IRNR

Serves as Central Texas Habitat Restoration Project Coordinator responsible for coordination and management of research, monitoring, reporting and training efforts associated with the Fort Hood Off-site Conservation Program (FHOSCP) in combination with the Leon River Restoration Project (LRRP). Designs and delivers Extension programming efforts aimed at transfer of wildlife and rangeland management technologies to private landowners and contractors, with a primary focus on the goals of the FHOSCP and LRRP – prepares Extension and outreach media associated with the project.

Relevant Experience

Extension Associate - Wildlife Management, January 2001 – February 2005, Texas Cooperative Extension, Wildlife and Fisheries Science Department, College Station, TX. Coordinator for the South Central Texas Wildlife Habitat Restoration Project and Manager TCE Demonstration Farm in Brazoria County. Conducted an education and outreach program using well-documented demonstrations for educating landowners on implementation and results of integrated wildlife management plans. Demonstrations incorporated the use of brush management, prescribed fire, grazing management, and native range enhancement for the restoration of habitats for native wildlife.

Extension Assistant - Water-Conservation, February 1998 -January 2001, Texas Agricultural Extension Service, Rangeland Ecology and Management Department, College Station, TX. Responsible for developing and implementing educational programs on sustainable rangeland practices focusing on water supply and conservation. Developed rangeland water conservation demonstrations, publications, and educational materials for clientele, presented information to the public and prepared proposals for funding educational projects. Worked with state and federal agencies, NGOs and with private landowners.
