Dr. Yang (Lydia) Cao joined the Texas A&M Institute of Renewable Natural Resources (IRNR) as a research scientist in 2015. Her research interest is geographic information science with a focus on cyberinfrastructure, geoprocessing, geostatistical analysis, geographic information system (GIS) applications development, map design and generalization, and environmental modeling. She uses GIS technology on interdisciplinary research related to ecology, hydrology, natural conservation and natural resources management.
Cao has a doctorate in Engineering & Applied Science concentrating on Geosciences from Idaho State University. Before joining the IRNR, she worked as Senior Research Associate for the Texas Institute for Applied Environmental Research (TIAER) in Stephenville, Texas.
